Reflections

"Sometimes we should let the rain in our life allow us to enjoy the color of it."  ~ DSM

It was raining, windy and quiet on the streets and in the parking lots early this morning.  The street lights, business lights, and an occasional car's headlights made long reflections on the rain-covered ground.

As I crossed the Kemah bridge I noticed several of the amusement rides at the Kemah Boardwalk had their lights on, so I decided to pull through there to see if I could get any decent pictures.

Trying to get a shot from my car to keep myself and the camera dry, the best shot I had was the Ferris Wheel.  What caught my eye was the reflection of the colors on the wet pavement.  I took a few shots and went on my way to find another location.

I headed over to Pine Gully park, my usual spot to go on weekend mornings, to see how well the trails were holding up with all the rain.  I ended up parking near the pier, waiting for the sunrise i would never see behind the clouds, sitting and thinking.

The reflected colors on the pavement from the Ferris Wheel was fresh in my mind and I started thinking how that was only possible because of the rain.  The rain allowed so much more color to be visible, a more enjoyable moment.

FInding beauty, seeing the colors, where some people see rain and feel pain, is something to be learned.  It's taking the time to really see what you are looking at.  When you look at the grass, do you just see green, or 1000 shades of green and yellow and brown and white, etc?  What do you see when you look at a tree, look at the sky, or see in another person?

Our challenge is to not just let an image reflect in our eye, but to really see what is being reflected and reflect on it.   Our challenge is to not let life be an experience of our mind, but allow it into our heart and soul and feel it's vibration, allowing those moments to resonate and bring a thankful smile to your face.

Learn to love the rain…..let it help you see more in your life.
