DOORS OF LIFE
DOORS OF LIFE
Doors I’ve opened,
Doors I’ve closed.
Looking back,
Life presents a lot of doors.
Some have been opened for me,
Some I have opened for myself,
Some I opened for others.
Some I have never opened,
Some I have closed,
Some I still have opened.
Doors of Sadness,
Doors of Happiness,
Doors of Pain,
Doors of Pleasure,
Doors that have Blinded me,
Doors that have Enlightened me,
Doors of hate,
Doors of Love,
Doors of Selfishness,
Doors of Charity.
Knowing I can open a door
With a simple act
Fearful of the consequences
Hopeful of the outcome
Hoping it doesn’t lock behind me
Hoping I can stay in there forever
Keeps me mindful of which doors I open.
Age and reasoning can bring awareness,
Then maybe discipline.
First to know we opens doors,
Then a wisdom to see behind them,
Then the strength to walk past those
That lead us to places we no longer can see,
That lock behind us, and bring us misery.
The doors of my future, fewer will I open.
Some I am closing today,
And some I am going back to.
Opening and closing.
More respectful of the Doors of Life.

I absolutely love that poem! Great picture too. If you keep walking past all your doors in your life you are guaranteed a long walk down a lonely hallway! You can quote me on that one. Thanks Dave for helping keep my spirit alive!
